The standard ST re-circ is more than adequate for a standard car. When the car has been remapped and is running more boost personally I'm not so sure it's doing such a good job.
One of the characteristics people love about there ST's (evident from the recent Whitby run) is the way it pops and bangs like a good un on throttle lift off.
Ask yourself why it does this, my own opinion is that the re-circ cannot flow enough of the boost (from the intake to throttle body) when the throttle closes on lift off. Some of the boost will be re-circulated, some will cause compressor surge (often referred to as wastegate chatter)
The ST runs a MAF sensor so it knows what amount of air is coming in and fuels accordingly. If some of that air is not being re-circulated then it will cause the engine to over fuel momentarily on throttle lift off, giving you pops and bangs, in severe cases this could cause bore wash.
The compressor surge from some cars can be clearly heard, those with open filters running high boost even more so. I think it was Ferdi who posted a video of his Pumaspeed 350 conversion where you can clearly hear the compressor surge, It was also very evident on Jared's (Dreanscienceflash) car when their new induction kit was fitted, it was not the induction kit causing this but the design makes it more audible.
There is currently no uprated re-circ for the KKK turbo as fitted to the ST. What you can do is fit an atmospheric BOV that will flow more boost. A good one is the Turbosmart designed specifically for the ST with a check valve to keep the standard re-circ closed, which should be available fron AET Turbos. This will alleviate the compressor surge but you would still have a problem with momentary over fueling.
I am not aware of any fully re-circulating aftermarket BOV, but that doesn't mean they don't exist, I just havent seen any.
